BAG FILLING INFORMATION

In an effort to reduce the cost of our shooting bags and to stop you from giving UPS your money to ship you sand our shooting bags come unfilled. Below are some tips on how to fill the shooting bag with your chosen media:

Our shooting bags ship with a paper funnel to aid in filling the bag. If you have access to a plastic funnel (such as one for changing the oil in your car) we would recommend using that, especially if you are using sand or glass bead blasting media.

The loop side of the hook-and-loop closure through which the bag is filled has a flap cut into it, pull this flap outwards and place the funnel inside as pictured below:

Using your media of choice, carefully pour the media into the funnel, taking time to work the media into the bag. If you are using a lighter media such as Spexlite you will need to take more time working the media into the bag as it is not heavy enough to push the seams of the bag outward to their full capacity.

It is easier to add fill to the bag than to remove it, so we recommend not overfilling the bag. The bags generally work best when they have enough empty space in them for your rifle to form a channel in the center. Even if you think the bag may be slightly underfilled we recommend doing some dry practice with it for a little while before deciding to add more fill. Below is a good starting point in regard to bag fill level.

*Note* If you are using a fine media such as sand or glass bead blasting media take some amount of care when opening the hook-and-loop filling port on the bag when adding more media so you don’t spray sand or glass beads in your eyeballs.

Fill recommendations: As our bags ship unfilled it is up to you to use whatever media you prefer when filling your bag. If you are unsure what to use we recommend either using a heavy fill such as sand or glass bead blasting media or a lightweight fill such as Spexlite 5125. A sand or glass bead blasting media fill will provide the greatest amount of stability, but it will obviously be heavy. For tactical or hunting usage, or if you just want a lighter bag, we recommend using a fill such as Spexlite 5125, this fill is very lightweight and in our testing actually provides more stability than poly/resin beads.
